Amit Shah Hits Out At Opposition For Resisting Bihar Electoral Roll Revision, Alleges ‘Vote Bank Politics’

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday (8 August) attacked the Opposition for opposing the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, accusing them of “vote bank politics.”
Speaking at a public meeting after laying the foundation stone for the Maa Janaki Mandir redevelopment project in Sitamarhi, Shah criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for questioning the Election Commission, reported The Hindu.
“I want to tell Rahul Gandhi ji to stop the vote bank politics. Matdata Suchi Ka Shuddhikaran Pahli Baar Nahi Ho Raha Hai. It was started by your great-grandfather,” he said, adding that the Opposition was protecting “infiltrators” as their vote bank.
“Infiltrators have no right to participate in this country’s election. Infiltrators are your vote bank, that is why you oppose it [the SIR],” Shah said.
Shah asked the crowd whether infiltrators should be removed from the voter list or not.
He criticised the Congress and RJD for not filing claims or objections to the draft rolls published on 1 August.
He cited surgical strikes, air strikes, and “Operation Sindoor” as strong responses under Modi’s leadership.
Highlighting Mithila’s development, Shah mentioned Padma awards for Sharda Sinha, inclusion of Maithili in the Eighth Schedule, and the formation of the Makhana Board.
The Rs 882.87 crore Maa Janaki Mandir project will cover 67 acres and finish in 11 months.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, present at the event, praised the Centre for supporting Bihar with projects and funds.
