Pawan Kalyan, the actor-turned-politician, made a significant announcement on Thursday (5 October), signaling his departure from the BJP-led NDA as he throws his support behind the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), as reported by Hindustan Times.

Kalyan voiced his deep conviction that the TDP stands as a robust political entity, essential for the state's progress and effective governance.

He unequivocally pledged his support to the TDP, particularly in their ongoing struggle, stressing the importance of Janasena's youthful vigor standing firmly beside them.

Addressing a public gathering in Pedana, Krishna District, Kalyan articulated his belief that a formidable alliance between the TDP and Janasena could overshadow the YSRCP, diminishing its influence in the state's political landscape.

Notably, Pawan Kalyan had visited Chandrababu Naidu in the Rajahmundry Central Jail on 14 September, where Naidu had been incarcerated in connection with the skill development scam.

Pawan Kalyan had proposed an alliance between the TDP, BJP, and Janasena in Andhra Pradesh to challenge YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSRCP.

However, as the BJP's decision on this alliance remains pending. Kalyan has firmly decided to discontinue his party's association with the NDA.

In the last assembly election in Andhra Pradesh in 2019, Janasena managed to secure just one seat, garnering a 5.6% vote share.

In contrast, the TDP won 23 seats with a 39.7% vote share, while the YSRCP swept to victory with 151 seats and a 50.6% vote share.
