Andhra Pradesh’s railway infrastructure has received a record Rs 9,417 crore allocation in the Union Budget 2025, marking an 11-fold increase from previous budgets, reported ANI.
This major boost is expected to enhance connectivity and drive economic growth.
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Guntur, Ramakrishna, confirmed the allocation after a review meeting with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. He revealed that Rs 84,559 crore has already been sanctioned for railway projects, with 73 stations undergoing redevelopment.
Among key projects, the Nadikudi-Srikalahasti railway line (309 km, Rs 2,333 crore) is progressing steadily, with 90 km completed and another 53 km set for completion soon.
The Guntur-Bibinagar project (239 km) is also advancing, with work initiated in the Kokkadam-Miryalaguda section.
The DRM highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s railway expansion, stating that 1,560 km of new tracks have been laid in the past decade, exceeding Sri Lanka’s total railway network.
He also confirmed that eight pairs of Vande Bharat trains are operational, with Navbharat trains to be introduced as an affordable alternative. Additionally, 7,000 km of old tracks are being replaced nationwide to improve safety and efficiency.
