Andhra Pradesh Targets 2 Million Rooftop Solar Units In 2025
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has set an ambitious target of installing 10,000 rooftop solar units in each Assembly constituency under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, reported The Hindu.
The move is part of the state’s broader goal to establish 2 million rooftop solar units within this year, he announced during the third Collectors’ conference at the Secretariat on Tuesday (25 March).
The initiative, aimed at boosting renewable energy adoption, comes with significant financial support for underprivileged communities:
For SC/ST beneficiaries, setting up 2-kilowatt rooftop units will be entirely free, with the Central government covering Rs 60,000 and the State contributing Rs 55,000 in subsidies.
For Backward Castes, the Central government will provide Rs 60,000, while the State will offer Rs 20,000, and beneficiaries can secure a Rs 35,000 bank loan, repayable in five years.
Beyond energy reforms, Naidu laid out a vision for Andhra Pradesh to become a leader in Quantum Computing through the development of a Quantum Valley.
This initiative aims to revolutionise tech-driven law enforcement, leveraging advanced computing power for crime prevention and tracking.
He urged police officials to adopt AI-driven criminal tracking systems, deploy night drone patrols, and fully digitize policing operations, setting a national benchmark for smart law enforcement.
