Nara Lokesh, the national general secretary of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), has unveiled plans for a two-month-long "Jayaho BC" campaign, scheduled to kick off on 4 January, as reported by The Hindu.

The campaign aims to shed light on what Lokesh alleges are injustices perpetrated by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government against the Backward Classes (BCs).

The initiative will encompass a large-scale state-level public meeting, accompanied by the release of a dedicated manifesto for the BCs.

During a press conference held on 29 December, Lokesh underscored the TDP's historical commitment to supporting BCs.

Lokesh also criticised the reduction of BC reservations in local bodies, resulting in approximately 16,000 BC candidates losing the opportunity to participate in elections.

He highlighted concerns such as the establishment of 56 BC corporations without allocated funds and the non-payment of salaries to their chairpersons.

Lokesh further pointed out what he claims to be the YSRCP government's failures, including inadequate water supply to the farm sector, lack of subsidies for BC loans, and unaddressed challenges faced by the fishermen community.
