Assembly Polls 2024: Maharashtra Witness 32 Per Cent Voter Turnout Till 1 PM, 48 Per Cent Voting In Jharkhand

Maharashtra witnessed over 32 per cent voter turnout till 1 pm on Wednesday (20 November) while nearly 48 per cent voters have cast their votes in Jharkhand.
The voting is ongoing for all the 288 assembly seats in the single-phase Maharashtra Assembly elections while polling is being held in 38 remaining seats in the second phase of Jharkhand state polls.
According to the Election Commission data, Maharashtra recorded 32.18 per cent voters' turnout till 1 pm while Jharkhand saw 47.92 per cent turnout during the first six hours.
In Maharashtra, the contest is between two alliances, the ruling Mahayuti, of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
The high-profile contests will be witnessed in Aaditya Thackeray's seat Worli, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's Kopri-Pachpakhadi and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis's Nagpur South-West.
In Jharkhand, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress coalition aims to retain power while the BJP, under the leadership of state president Babulal Marandi wants to return to power after the 2019 loss.
Voting for 43 seats in Jharkhand took place on 13 November. Among the remaining 38 seats, there are high-profile seats like CM Hemant Soren's Barhait, Babulal Marandi's Dhanwar and Kalpana Soren's Gande.
