At Global South Summit, PM Modi Condemns Civilian Deaths In Israel-Hamas Conflict

During the second virtual Voice of Global South Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for unity among global south countries in light of the challenges arising from the Israel-Hamas conflict.

While highlighting India's G20 presidency achievements, Modi condemned civilian deaths in the conflict and emphasised the need for collective action for the greater global good.

Modi expressed concern over the incidents in West Asia, particularly the 7 October terror attacks by Hamas, prompting India to condemn the attacks and call for restraint, dialogue, and diplomacy.

Aligned with the theme of "one earth, one family, one future" for India's G20 presidency, Modi urged countries to move forward with the 5Cs – consultation, cooperation, communication, creativity, and capacity building.

The virtual summit also saw the participation of several heads of state and government, including Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Indonesian President Joko Widodo, and Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth.

The collaborative efforts discussed during the summit recognised the need for a concerted push for progress and unity among developing nations in the face of the Israel-Hamas conflict.
