Jashimuddin Rahmani, a radical Islamic leader released from jail after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's ouster from Bangladesh, has called on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to "liberate Bengal from Modi’s rule and declare its independence."

In a viral video, Rahmani, who leads the Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), a terrorist group linked to al-Qaida, threatened to dismantle India with China's potential support in cutting off India’s northeastern region by blocking the Siliguri corridor, also known as the "chicken's neck."

"We will tell Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal to free Bengal from Modi's rule and declare independence... Bangladesh is not like Sikkim or Bhutan. It is a country of 18 crore Muslims. This is our sacred land," Rahmani said in the video as per India Today.

Rahmani, who was released from prison after a military-backed interim government of Nobel laurate Muhammad Yunus took power, has asked to raise Islamist flags in Delhi and also encouraged separatist movements and urged Pakistan and Afghanistan to assist in "liberating Kashmir."

The release of Rahmani, who was in jail for murdering a blogger, and his anti-India rhetoric are seen as serious threats to India's security, with growing connections of ABT, which is banned in India, to al-Qaida and Pakistan-based terrorist groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
