The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to suspend the ongoing cricket tournament Indian Premier League (IPL) in light of the recent tensions between India and Pakistan.

IANS quoted BCCI sources after the board's meeting earlier today (9 May) and said, "After discussing with all the concerned authorities, this decision was made. Further details BCCI will be sharing."

"BCCI wants to stand with the nation at this time and thus suspends IPL 2025 with immediate effect. It’s indefinite at the moment (on a window to resume IPL 2025 in future). It will only happen if there will be time later in the year. But for now nothing," the source further said.

The two teams were stuck in Dharamshala after flight cancellations due to security reasons. The plan is to bring the team via a special train.

10 teams including several foreign players are participating in the IPL. The matches were scheduled till 25 May, however, the remaining tournament is likely to be held later this year. It can even be cancelled if no suitable time is found later.

58 matches have been held so far including the cancelled PBKS versus DC match yesterday. Gujarat Titans was leading the points table. followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore, PBKS and Mumbai Indians.
