Bengaluru Metro's Yellow Line May Be Extended To Jigani: Report

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Tuesday (19 August) said the state government will consider extending Namma Metro’s Yellow Line from its current stretch between R V Road and Bommasandra further towards Jigani, and possibly Attibele, The Hindu reported.
Responding to Congress MLA B Shivanna’s demand in the Legislative Assembly during question hour for extending the line till Attibele, Shivakumar said he had spoken to officials concerned in this regard.
“We have asked R.V. Associates of Hyderabad to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) on extending this metro line,” he was quoted as saying by The Hindu.
Highlighting future infrastructure around the corridor, Shivakumar noted that the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) plans to build a 90,000-seat stadium near Attibele.
“We have to take the metro another 11-12 km to link Jigani. It is a potential place. We will take suitable measures,” he said.

The Yellow Line currently connects R V Road to Bommasandra on Hosur Road.
The 19.15-km corridor links R V Road with Bommasandra, with three trains operating every 25 minutes. End-to-end travel takes about 32–35 minutes.
On its inaugural day, the line saw heavy footfall from students, IT employees, garment workers, and factory staff.
Many commuters said the metro offered long-awaited relief from the notorious Central Silk Board traffic, cutting commute times and boosting both productivity and quality of life.
The planned extension is expected to greatly improve connectivity for Bengaluru’s fast-growing southern outskirts.
The Yellow Line, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has already recorded a surge in ridership, reflecting strong commuter demand.
