Bengaluru: PM Modi Inaugurates Much-Awaited 19 Km Yellow Line Of Namma Metro, Lays Foundation For Phase 3

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (10 August) inaugurated the 19 km Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Metro, connecting RV Road to Bommasandra via Electronics City.
The launch marks a significant expansion of the city’s rapid transit network, aimed at easing congestion on the busy Hosur Road stretch.
The project, which began in 2017, was delayed by three years due to pandemic disruptions and rolling stock shortages following the Indo-China border tensions.
Modi flagged off the new line and travelled on the metro from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Electronics City station, interacting with students and women metro staff during the journey.
The Yellow Line has three key interchange points — Rashtriya Vidyalaya Road (Green Line), Jayadeva (Pink Line under construction), and Central Silk Board (upcoming Blue Line).
Stations along the route will serve IT parks housing firms like Infosys, Wipro, Biocon, Tech Mahindra, and Delta, while also improving access to residential zones, hospitals, and educational hubs.
Initial operations will see trains every 25 minutes, with three rakes covering 72 trips per direction daily over 18 service hours, catering to around 2 lakh passengers per day. Fares will range up to Rs 60 within the Yellow Line, and up to Rs 90 for multi-line journeys, such as Whitefield to Bommasandra.
He also flagged off three Vande Bharat Express trains from Bengaluru to Belagavi at KSR Bengaluru railway station, and from Amritsar to Katra and Nagpur to Pune virtually.
