Bharti Airtel and Capgemini will jointly deliver 5G-based enterprise-grade solutions in the Indian market, which will help fuel innovation, revolutionise business models and accelerate digital transformation.

To co-innovate a range of India-focused use cases, Airtel and Capgemini will combine their knowledge in connectivity and 5G solutions as well as their System Integration (SI) capabilities.

The development hubs will include Capgemini's 5G Lab in Mumbai and Airtel's 5G Lab in Manesar, according to a news release, but the financial details are yet to be revealed.

The French information technology and consulting company Capgemini has already deployed two 5G use cases at Bharti Airtel's 5G lab. Smart health and immersive remote support for field operations and maintenance are the focus of these initiatives. Computer vision, video analytics, augmented reality, artificial intelligence and machine learning are all used in these use case solutions.

To test 5G-based solutions, the telecom provider is collaborating with brands such as Apollo Hospitals and Flipkart, as well as manufacturing organisations. It is now doing 5G field tests in several cities.

The company also exhibited India's first 5G experience over a live 4G network earlier this year. It showcased India's first rural 5G trial and the first cloud gaming experience on 5G. In addition, it is leading the O-RAN Alliance's efforts in India to develop 5G technologies.

Ananth Chandramouli, managing director of the India Business Unit, Capgemini, said in the latest news release: “Our partnership with Airtel is truly a game-changer for both of us and has the potential to disrupt the market dynamics. Through this partnership, our focus will be on enabling enterprises to leverage the benefits of 5G technology and identifying exciting new use cases to fuel innovation, revolutionise business models and accelerate digital transformation.”

Additionally, Ganesh Lakshminarayanan, CEO – Enterprise Business, Airtel Business said: “Airtel has been leading 5G testing and validation in India and looks forward to building an open and vibrant ecosystem that brings together all stakeholders and drives innovation. Through this partnership with Capgemini, we look forward to offering our customers cutting edge solutions, which deliver the benefits of the 5G technology."
