The Bhartiya Shiksha Board, founded by yoga guru Ramdev, has been recognised as a pan-India school education board, similar to other national school boards like the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Indian Council of Secondary Education (ICSE).

According to a recent circular from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the Bhartiya Shiksha Board (BSB) can now be considered a pan-India school education board.

The circular, which was sent to all vice-chancellors of technical universities and directors and principals of AICTE-approved institutions, stated that the BSB was established on 9 March 2019, and received approval from the Education Ministry on 25 January 2023.

The circular also stated that the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) recognises the equivalence of school boards in India.

According to the circular, the AIU has granted equivalence to the Grade 10 and Grade 12 board examination qualifications of BSB.

The executive members of the board are led by Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna, who is the co-founder of Patanjali, an FMCG company associated with the yoga guru.

Patanjali is an Indian multinational-conglomerate holding company based in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.

The Bhartiya Shiksha Board originated as a movement to restore Indian knowledge systems by rejecting Macaulay's destructive legacy, which deliberately dismantled our indigenous education and knowledge systems — Bhartiya Gyan Parampara and the Gurukul system — and replaced them with Western culture and a mentality of subjugation.

The board has been established with the purpose of developing an authentic indigenous model of school education that integrates the ancient Indian knowledge heritage with modern scientific knowledge and e-learning.

It aims to affiliate government and private schools across India to disseminate their unique 'Bhartiya' educational approach.

BSB has created a national education system that incorporates the latest scientific research in brain development, child development, and learner-centered pedagogy, while also incorporating the qualities of our own Bhartiya model of schooling — the Gurukul system and Guru Shishya Parampara.

The board consists of several esteemed members including spiritual guru Morari Bapu, Swami Govind Giri, Shrinivasa Varakhedi (vice-chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, Delhi), Dr Nagendra Prasad Singh (former IAS), Padamshri Dr Punam Suri, Dr Ved Prakash (former UGC chairman), Manoj Srivastava (director of CBSE), and Giridhar Malaviya (the chancellor of Banaras Hindu University).
