Big Relief For Ayodhya Traders As ADA Continues To Distribute Keys For Allotted Shops On Holidays

Traders in Ayodhya have flocked to the Tedhi Bazar multi-story shopping complex, where the Ayodhya Development Authority (ADA) has continued to hand over keys to allottees even on Sunday (16 June).

Despite the Eid al-Adha holiday, the process is continuing on Monday, as per a report by Hindustan Times.

Following state government directives to expedite the handover of shops to allottees in Ayodhya, ADA staff have deployed themselves at the Tedhi Bazar multi-story shopping complex. The ADA had decided to allocate shops to displaced shopkeepers through a lottery system in December 2023.

Without any paperwork or legal formalities, ADA staff will hand over shop keys to the allottees. The development authority will complete the legal formalities on Tuesday when government offices reopen.

These allottees were displaced due to the 13-km road widening project from Sahadatganj to Naya Ghat, named as Ram Path.

Initially, the shopkeepers were required to pay the full amount to the ADA to take possession of shops measuring 100 to 150 square feet, costing around Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh each.

This made it almost impossible for them to pay the amount, leaving them with bank loans as only option. The recent policy change has come as a huge relief to them.
