The Delhi Police have made one of the largest drug seizures in the city's history, confiscating over 560 kilograms (kgs) of cocaine valued at approximately Rs 2,000 crore, officials reported.

Denying any terror angle to this seizure, Delhi's Addition Commissioner of Police (ACP) Pramod Singh Kushwaha said that this is the 'biggest cocaine haul in recent times' and some marijuana was also found.

Four individuals namely a 40-plus-year-old Vasant Vihar resident Tushar Gupta, his associate with a strong-built Himanshu, his driver Aurangzeb and Bharat Jain, who came from Mumbai have been arrested.

"Around 15 kgs of cocaine was recovered from personal possession of Tushar Goyal, Himanshu and Aurangzeb. Bharat Jain, a receiver from Mumbai's Kurla West has also been caught," the ACP said.

"The forward and backward linkages point to a Middle Eastern country, where a major handler is present. The cocaine arrived in Delhi from different states from India including Uttar Pradesh," Kushwaha said.

According to officials, the suspects had planned to distribute the cocaine in Delhi and the National Capital Region. The Special Cell had been investigating the case for over two months following a tip-off.

The four arrested individuals are currently being interrogated as the investigation continues, police added. The police are also conducting background verification of all the accused.
