Bihar: 10 Prison Escapees From Nepal Detained At Border, Including Two Indians
The Nepalese Parliament was set on fire by protestors
Ten undertrials, including two from Bihar, were detained by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel at the India-Nepal border while attempting to enter India after escaping prison amid violent protests in Nepal, the Hindustan Times reported.
According to officials, the prisoners fled from Jaleswar prison late on Tuesday (9 September), taking advantage of the unrest triggered by anti-government demonstrations.
The SSB nabbed them at the state border and handed them over to local police stations in Sitamarhi district.
Manoj Kumar, SHO of Bittha police station, confirmed that seven inmates, including Mohan Kumar from Hajipur in Vaishali district, were taken into custody.
Sursand SHO Dhananjay Kumar Pandey said the remaining three prisoners, including Guddu Kumar from Motihari, were also detained pending further orders.

In response to the escalating situation in Nepal, the Bihar government has suspended the Indo-Nepal Kathmandu Maitri bus service until further notice.
The unrest in Nepal has turned deadly. Security forces opened fire on protesters demanding the lifting of a social media ban and action against corruption, killing at least 19 people and injuring hundreds.
Protesters retaliated by storming government offices, including the Parliament and the President’s Office, and torching properties of prominent leaders.
Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli and other cabinet ministers resigned from their post after the violent protests.
To curb further violence, the Nepal Army imposed nationwide restrictions from Wednesday morning (3 September) until 5 pm and enforced a curfew until 6 am Thursday. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as tensions remain high along the border.
