Bihar Assembly Elections Expected Between 5 and 15 November

The Bihar Assembly elections are expected to take place after Chhath Puja, from 5 to 15 November, reported India Today.
The current Assembly’s term ends on 22 November 2025, and the Election Commission must complete the polls before that date.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar will visit Bihar next week to review election preparations and finalise the voter list, which the poll panel plans to publish on 30 September.
Political tensions have risen after the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision exercise, which removed 65 lakh names from the draft voter list.
The INDIA bloc has criticised the move, alleging it targeted genuine voters. The Supreme Court has warned that it may annul the entire process even after the final list is published if it finds any illegality.
The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will face the Opposition’s INDIA bloc in this year’s contest.
The NDA, comprising the BJP, Janata Dal (United), and Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas), seeks another term under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The INDIA bloc, led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) along with Congress and Left parties, aims to unseat him.
In the 243-member Assembly, the NDA holds 131 seats—BJP 80, JD(U) 45, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) 4, and 2 Independents. The INDIA bloc has 111 MLAs, with RJD 77, Congress 19, CPI(ML) 11, CPI(M) 2, and CPI 2.
