Bihar police have issued a high alert following intelligence inputs that three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists infiltrated the state from Nepal, NDTV reported.
Authorities have released sketches of the suspects, identified as Hasnain Ali of Rawalpindi, Adil Hussain of Umarkot, and Mohammad Usman of Bahawalpur.
According to officials, the trio reached Kathmandu in mid-August before crossing into Bihar last week.
Their passport details have been circulated across border districts, and security has been tightened in view of the upcoming assembly elections later this year.
The alert comes against the backdrop of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong stance on terror after the 22 April Pahalgam attack.
Following cross-border links to that incident, the Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor on 7 May, targeting multiple terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
At a rally in Bihar last week, the Prime Minister reiterated his commitment: Operation Sindoor was "a pledge I took on the soil of Bihar."
He further declared, "Now, the message is loud and clear that no terrorist can escape after striking anywhere on Indian soil. Our missiles will hunt them down to the deepest recesses of the earth (patal lok)."
With Bihar headed to the polls, law enforcement agencies are on high alert across sensitive districts, while coordination with central agencies and border forces has been intensified.
Officials have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
