Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar on Monday (6 October) said that the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections will be the most “transparent, secure, and easy elections” ever conducted in India, the Hindustan Times reported.
Announcing the poll schedule, Kumar said Bihar will vote in two phases, 6 November and 11 November, with counting scheduled for 14 November . He added that the window for filing objections for additions or deletions in the voter list “remains open,” noting that Bihar had “shown the way to the nation on purifying voter lists.”
Speaking on the state’s special intensive revision (SIR) drive, Kumar said, “The voter list revision started on 24 June, 2025, and the draft was published on 1 August. Citizens were given time to file claims or objections until 1 September. The final voter list was released on 30 September.”
The CEC stated that there are 90,712 polling stations across Bihar and that 7.42 crore voters are eligible to vote — including 3.92 crore men, 3.5 crore women, and 14 lakh first-time voters.
Kumar also announced that new voter cards will be issued to all those newly added to the rolls. To ensure greater transparency, he said, “It is mandatory to complete the counting of postal ballots before the last two rounds of counting of votes.”
In a first, there will be one general observer for each of the 243 constituencies and one police observer for every district to oversee the process. The CEC further warned that any fake news on social media would be dealt with strictly to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.
