Bihar To Get Four More Amrit Bharat Express Trains, Enhancing Comfortable And Affordable Long-Distance Travel

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday (21 August) announced that four new Amrit Bharat Express trains will soon begin operations from Bihar, strengthening affordable travel options for passengers.

The new services will run on the routes: Gaya–Delhi, Saharsa–Amritsar, Chhapra–Delhi, and Muzaffarpur–Hyderabad, The Indian Express reported.

With this addition, the total number of Amrit Bharat trains connected to Bihar will rise to 12.

Currently, nine Amrit Bharat trains are operational across the railway network, of which eight either originate from or pass through the state, including Darbhanga–Anand Vihar, Rajendranagar–New Delhi, and Sitamarhi–Delhi services.

Launched in 2023, Amrit Bharat Express is designed as a low-cost yet modern alternative to the Vande Bharat Express, targeted at lower and lower-middle income passengers.

The trains feature upgraded amenities such as modular toilets, redesigned seats and berths, fire detection systems, pantry cars, charging sockets, and semi-automatic couplers.

Powered by push-pull technology, they also ensure faster operations.

Indian Railways has planned to roll out 100 Amrit Bharat trains across the country.
