Bihar To Prioritise Domicile Holders From This Year's Teacher Recruitment Cycle: CM Nitish's Big Move Before State Elections

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday (3 August) announced a major policy shift in teacher recruitment, directing the Education Department to amend existing rules to prioritise local residents (domicile holders), reported India TV.

The revised rules will be implemented from the fourth phase of the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4), scheduled in 2025.

Addressing the public, Kumar emphasised the state government’s continuous efforts to improve Bihar’s education system since 2005.

“Since we formed the government in November 2005, we’ve been continuously working to improve the education system. To strengthen it further, a large number of teachers have been appointed," he stated.

Officials will now revise the recruitment guidelines to ensure that candidates with Bihar domicile receive priority during selection. The move is seen as a response to persistent demands from local aspirants for greater representation in state government teaching jobs.

Nitish Kumar stressed that this decision aligns with the government's vision to enhance the quality of education in Bihar by filling vacancies with competent, locally rooted candidates.

The announcement, which comes ahead of the 2025 Assembly elections, is likely to influence a significant section of job seekers in the state and marks a key development in Bihar’s education policy landscape.
