The central government and BJP led states are preparing to announce a host of women-centric initiatives on 8 March (International Women's Day), according to a report by The New Indian Express.

These schemes are expected to provide financial support, enhance educational opportunities, and promote vocational skills.

According to TNIE, sources within the BJP indicate that the upcoming initiatives will particularly focus on the economic upliftment of women from underprivileged backgrounds, both in the national capital and states governed by the party.

“Since our party is taking initiatives centred on the economic, educational, and social empowerment of women, we are poised to introduce more women-centric schemes. A large section of women voters have supported us, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is genuinely committed to their empowerment through a slew of schemes,” a senior BJP functionary stated.

Among the expected announcements is financial assistance aimed at supporting girls’ education, as well as targeted aid for women from marginalised communities to help them gain vocational and skills-based training.

“Additionally, the BJP Mahila Morcha has planned a series of outreach programmes and activities for Women’s Day on 8 March, focusing on the Prime Minister’s eight flagship schemes designed to empower women economically, educationally, and socially,” the BJP leader added.

The Mahila Morcha, the women’s wing of the party, is expected to play a key role in spreading awareness about these initiatives and ensuring that benefits reach the intended recipients.

In Delhi, the much-anticipated Mahila Samriddhi Yojna is set to commence its registration process on the same day.

This scheme, which promises Rs 2,500 per month to women from economically weaker backgrounds, was a major promise in the BJP’s Delhi Assembly election manifesto.

The party had pledged to roll out this financial aid programme to support women once it came to power in the city.
