Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran leader Lal Krishna Advani was hospitalised at Apollo Hospital in Delhi after his health deteriorated late last night.
Advani remains under observation. His condition is "stable", India TV reported citing hospital sources.
Advani, who celebrated his 97th birthday last month, has been facing recurring health issues over the past few months.
This is the fourth time since July that Advani has been admitted to the hospital, NDTV reported.
He had previously been treated at both Apollo Hospital and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.
BJP spokesperson K Krishna Sagar Rao conveyed his best wishes for Advani’s quick recovery, describing him as "our tallest leader."
Born on 8 November 1927 in Karachi in undivided India, Advani joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1942.
Over the decades, Advani emerged as a pivotal figure in shaping the BJP and held the position of its National President for the longest duration.
During the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government, Advani played significant roles, serving as Home Minister and later as Deputy Prime Minister from 1999 to 2004.
Earlier this year, in March, President Droupadi Murmu awarded Advani the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honour in India.
