Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday lauded India’s home-grown missile systems while addressing Navy personnel on board the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant during Diwali celebrations, the Hindustan Times reported.

He said, "since 2014, the Indian Navy has inducted an average of 40 new warships or submarines. BrahMos and Akash missiles demonstrated their effectiveness during Operation Sindoor, and BrahMos name alone makes some nervous. Numerous countries are now keen on acquiring BrahMos."

"India is steadily building the capability to export defence equipment across all three services, aiming to become a leading global defence exporter—a sector that has grown thirtyfold over the past 11 years,” PM Modi added.

He said that these indigenous systems have become a source of strategic strength and deterrence.

PM Modi said the government is working towards making India one of the world’s leading defence exporters.

He also addressed the issue of Naxal terrorism and praised the bravery of police and para-military forces in fighting them in India's Naxal free mission 2026.

The Prime Minister’s visit highlighted India’s naval achievements, indigenous defence production, and the morale of personnel on board the nation’s first indigenously built aircraft carrier.
