The Border Security Force (BSF) arrested a Pakistani national along the International Border (IB) in the R S Pura sector of Jammu on Sunday night (7 September), and confirmed that it will lodge a formal protest with Pakistan over the incident, reported News 18.

The intrusion took place near the Octroi outpost in Suchetgarh tehsil at around 9:10 PM. BSF officials said they spotted the man, identified as Siraj Khan from 27-Chak village in Bhalwal tehsil of Punjab province, crossing the border and moving aggressively toward the fence.

Despite numerous warnings from security officers, the intruder refused to halt, prompting BSF troops to shoot fire before apprehending him, according to a statement.

During the arrest, the forces recovered two Pakistani currency notes of Rs 20 and Rs 10 from him. Siraj Khan has been handed over to the local police for further investigation.

In response to the incident, authorities have tightened security along the Jammu frontier. The area has recently suffered damage to several border posts and fencing due to flash floods, raising concerns about vulnerability along the border.

This arrest underscores ongoing vigilance by BSF troops along the IB, who continue to maintain strict surveillance and respond decisively to any intrusion attempts.
