While Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the students' wing of RSS organised live streaming of the Ram Mandir pran-pratishtha event at Jadavpur University, the Students Federation of India (SFI) opposed it.

ABVP state committee leader Saptarshi Sarkar told PTI that around 50 people assembled including its members and students and some staff of the university at the union room to worship Lord Ram.

They also together watched the live streaming of the consecration ceremony of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. However, according to Indian Express sources, ABVP did not have permission to organise this event.

And hence, pro Vice-Chancellor Amitava Datta and security guards tried to stop ABVP students which led to a scuffle and as a result Datta and a security guard were injured.

Meanwhile, SFI staged a protest rally inside the campus and held a seminar where discussion was held on dissuading "any attempt to change history and divide society by the fascist regime."

He said that they are organising cultural functions, discussions and film screenings to uphold the message of saving the culture, heritage and pluralistic characteristics of India.

Another AFSU student alleged that ABVP members forcefully entered the campus with outsiders to disrupt the academic atmosphere in the campus and also chanted the ‘Jai Shree Ram’ slogan.

"We don’t want the peaceful atmosphere of the university to be destroyed. Therefore, we strongly protest such hooliganism," Tamalina Ghosh was quoted as saying.

ABVP’s Jadavpur unit leader Monoranjan Joardar denied involvement of any outsiders and said that they did not seek permission as it is a moment being celebrated across the country.
