A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta heard a petition of Tamil Nadu BJP member Vinoj alleging that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government is banning live telecast of the Ram Mandir event.

Tamil Nadu AAG said that there are no restrictions and the petition is politically motivated. The bench asked the authorities to act in accordance with the law and not on the basis of any oral instructions, LiveLaw reported.

"If such an order (banning religious ceremonies of others in areas inhabited primarily by members of one religion), were implemented across the state, then wherever there are minorities, they will never be able to hold prayer meetings," Justice Datta said.
