The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested Maisnam Riten Kumar Singh, Executive Director and Regional Officer of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited in Guwahati, and Binod Kumar Jain, a representative of Kolkata-based M/s Mohan Lal Jain, in a major anti-corruption operation.

CBI teams conducted searches at seven office and residential premises of the accused at different locations across India.

Documents related to the purchase of high-end vehicles registered in his name were also seized.

The arrests exposed what investigators described as an unholy nexus between construction companies and high-level NHIDCL officials for project clearances.

The investigation began after the CBI received source-based intelligence about the alleged bribery transaction.

The NH-37 four-laning project has been under construction for several years as part of infrastructure development in upper Assam.

Both the NHIDCL Executive Director and the co-accused were produced before the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, in Guwahati.

The agency continues to verify the ownership and value of movable and immovable assets identified during the searches.
