Centre Allocates Rs 100 Crore For Ghatkesar–Yadagirigutta MMTS Extension In Telangana

The Union Ministry of Railways has allocated Rs 100 crore in the current financial year for the much-delayed Ghatkesar–Yadagirigutta section under the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) project.

According to The New Indian Express report, the move comes after sustained efforts by Bhuvanagiri MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, who raised the issue during the zero hour in the Lok Sabha earlier this year.

In a letter addressed to the MP on Wednesday (16 July), Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh said that the 33 km third line between Ghatkesar and Yadadri, sanctioned in 2016, under the MMTS on a cost-sharing basis with the state government.

However, the project could not move forward due to the non-deposit of the state’s share of funds.

The recent budgetary provision of Rs 100 crore marks a significant breakthrough in advancing construction, years after it first received approval.

MP Kiran Kumar Reddy expressed his gratitude to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for sanctioning the funds.

The renewed push from the Centre is expected to significantly improve access to Yadadri, a major pilgrimage centre in Telangana, and support local economic activity by expanding regional rail mobility.
