Clean Sweep For NDA In Bihar By-Polls

After the final round of counting, Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has swept all four assembly constituencies in Bihar.

Two seats went to BJP, while Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) (HAM) won each seat they were contesting.

In Tarari, BJP's Vishal Prashant secured 78,755 votes, while his nearest rival Raju Yadav of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (CPIML) got 68,143 votes.

Prashant Kishor fame Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) candidate Kiran Singh came distant third with 5,622 votes.

Singh was given a ticket at the eleventh hour after it turned out that the name of JSP’s first choice candidate Lieutenant General Shri Krishna Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM was not in the local voter list.

Ajeet Kumar Singh, son of state Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) President Jagadanand Singh and brother of Buxar Parliamentarian Sudhakar Singh was the most high profile candidate from here.  He came third with 35,825 votes.

In Belaganj, Manorama Devi of Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) registered victory by 21,391 votes. Vishwanath Kumar Singh of RJD got 51,943 votes - 21,391 less than Manorama Devi.

Mohammad Amjad of JSP also impressed with 17,285 votes.

In Imamganj, Deepa Kumari of HAM secured 53,435 votes, beating Raushan Kumar of the RJD by 5,945 votes. Kumari is also the daughter-in-law of Union MSME minister Jitan Ram Manjhi.

Jitendra Paswan of JSP emerged as a significant threat but had to contend with third position with 37,103 votes.
