Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (6 April) launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing it of being out of touch with the aspirations of modern India.

Speaking at a rally in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi likened the Congress manifesto to that of the Muslim League, suggesting a disconnect with the nation's current needs.

"The Congress is completely cut off from the aspirations and expectations of today's India," remarked PM Modi.

He further asserted that "the Congress manifesto reflects the same idea which was prevalent in the Muslim League during the freedom movement."

"The Congress manifesto completely bears the imprint of the Muslim League, and little remaining part of it, is completely dominated by the leftists…Congress is not visible in this," PM Modi added.

Recently, Left parties had raised concerns over the absence of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) flags at Rahul Gandhi's rally in Wayanad, Kerala.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan accused the Congress of being "scared" of the BJP, while the BJP alleged the Congress of being "ashamed" of displaying the IUML flag.

In response, the Congress criticized both the CPI(M) and the BJP, suggesting an unlikely alliance between the two rival parties.
