Govindanand Swami showing Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's letter to Avimukteshwaranand
Govindanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj on Sunday (21 July) alleged that Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, the self-claimed Shankaracharya of Jyotish Peeth in Uttarakhand, is completely backed by the Congress party.
Showing a letter written by Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on 13 September 2022, in which she calls Avimukteshwaranand a revered Shankaracharya, Govindanand questioned why she calls him a Shankaracharya when the Supreme Court has put a stay.
Govindanand alleged that now Avimukteshwaranand is using this letter in the Supreme Court to stake his claim on the post of Shankaracharya and questioned, "Will the Congress decide who will be Shankaracharya?"
He further alleged that Vadra supports Avimukteshwaranand because he is against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "The Congress is playing a game and Avimukteshwaranand is the toy," he added.
"I want to ask Priyanka Gandhi Vadra that she should either issue a public apology for writing this letter or we will file a contempt in the Supreme Court against her," he said adding that Avimukteshwaranand is being backed by many people.
Calling Avimukteshwaranand "fake no. 1", Govindanand said that the Shankaracharya title is too far-fetched for him, adding 'sadhu', 'sant' or 'sanyasi' (saint) to his name is also inaccurate.
He added that the Supreme Court is giving dates while Avimukteshwaranand is killing and kidnapping people, raising questions against the Pran Pratishtha of Lord Ram and attending weddings pretending to be a 'Sanyasi'.
"Avimukteshwaranand is saying that 228 kg of gold in Kedarnath is missing, he does not even know the difference between gold and brass," Govindanda said showing a non-bailable arrest warrant against Avimukteshwaranand.
