Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (14 September) accused the Congress party of siding with anti-national forces and supporting terrorists nurtured by Pakistan, instead of standing with the Indian Army, reported Hindustan Times.

"When the Congress was in power, the entire country was bleeding from terrorism, and the Congress stood silently by. Today, our army conducts Operation Sindoor, uprooting and eliminating terrorism from every corner of Pakistan, but Congress people stand with the Pakistan army," he said while speaking at a rally in Darrang, Assam.

"Congress people promote the agendas of those who nurture terrorists instead of our army. Pakistan's lies become Congress's agenda. Therefore, you should always remain vigilant against Congress," he said.

"The interest of its vote bank is the biggest priority for the Congress. Congress never cares about the national interest. Today, Congress has become the protector of anti-nationals and infiltrators as well. When Congress was in power, it used to promote infiltration, and today Congress wants the infiltrators to settle in India forever and determine India's future," he added.

Modi’s visit marked his first to Assam since the conclusion of Operation Sindoor, which he hailed as a “huge success” and dedicated to Maa Kamakhya and Lord Krishna.

He said, “Yesterday was my first visit to Assam after Operation Sindoor. With the blessings of Maa Kamakhya, the operation succeeded. Today, I am experiencing a divine connection by being on this sacred land.”

Linking his address to Janmashtami celebrations, he recalled his Independence Day speech invoking Lord Krishna’s Sudarshan Chakra as inspiration for India’s future security.

PM Modi highlighted the Sudarshan Chakra Mission, a decade-long plan to develop an Iron Dome-like defence system indigenously.

“By 2035, we will expand, modernise, and strengthen this system. It will not only shield us from terrorist attacks but also strike back decisively,” he said.

Calling Assam “the centre of identity and courage,” PM Modi praised the people’s resilience.

During his visit, he laid foundation stones for Darrang Medical College and Hospital, a GNM School, a BSc Nursing College, the Guwahati Ring Road Project, and the Kuruwa-Narengi Bridge over the Brahmaputra, aiming to improve connectivity, urban mobility, and socio-economic growth.
