Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday (4 October) launched a scathing attacking on Congress and accused the party of pushing youth into the "dark world of drugs".

Shah's attack comes after after the Delhi police on Wednesday (2 October) seized drugs worth Rs 5,600 crore in the national capital and arrested the main accused Tushar Goyal.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that Goyal is a member of the Congress party.

In a post on X on Friday, Home Minister Shah said that while the Modi government is committed to a "zero tolerance" policy on drugs and is working to guide the youth towards education, sports, and innovation, Congress is allegedly using its political influence to enable drug trafficking.

"On one hand, the Modi government is adopting a zero-tolerance policy for a 'Drug-Free India,' while on the other, the involvement of a prominent Congress person in the Rs 5,600 crore drug haul caught from North India is extremely dangerous and shameful," Shah said.

"The Congress leader's sinful intention to use his political influence to push youth into the quagmire of drugs will never be fulfilled under the Modi government," he said.

"Our government is determined to destroy the entire drug network, regardless of the political position or stature of drug dealers, in order to make a 'Drug-Free India'," he added.

BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi on Thursday (3 October) called Tushar Goel aka Dikki Goel as the "kingpin" in the case and claimed that he was appointed was RTI cell chief of the Indian Youth Congress.

Meanwhile, Congress has denied any links to Goyal, and alleged that BJP was trying to mislead the country on the basis of "lies and deception".
