The Opposition unity meeting in Bengaluru will continue on Tuesday (July 18), for the second day, with 26 parties joining forces in an attempt take on the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in 2024.
Meanwhile, the BJP will hold a meeting of 38 parties from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the national capital, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Notably, this NDA meeting marks the completion of 9 years of the central government under PM Modi.
On July 18, the Opposition meeting began at 11 a.m. Prior to the meeting, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had hosted a dinner on the earlier day, for leaders of Opposition parties.
The meeting in Bengaluru follows the first such gathering in Patna last month, which aimed to form an anti-BJP political front.
Originally scheduled to be held in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, the second meet was relocated to Bengaluru due to weather conditions in the hill State.
Congress' Kharge claimed that the BJP is feeling threatened by the Opposition unity and is seeking solace in numbers, referring to the NDA meeting in Delhi.
