Delhi Airport's Newly Developed Terminal 1 To Become Operational On 17 August; SpiceJet, IndiGo To Shift Flights

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has announced that the newly developed Terminal 1 at Delhi Airport will become operational on 17 August.
This terminal, a key element of DIAL's Phase 3A expansion project, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 10 March.
The opening of Terminal 1 is anticipated to alleviate the load on terminals 2 and 3, increasing overall airport capacity and enhancing the passenger experience, as per a report by the Hindustan Times.
Starting from 17 August, SpiceJet will relocate 13 of its flights to the new terminal. IndiGo will follow suit, transferring 34 flights from terminals 2 and 3 by 2 September.
DIAL has introduced several innovative services, including a mobile check-in service to help passengers avoid long queues at check-in counters.
Other advanced facilities include an automated tray retrieval system, individual carrier system, and self baggage drop kiosks. Passengers can also enjoy an expanded shop and dine area, a prayer room, a yoga zone, quiet spaces, and various other amenities designed for comfort and convenience.
In terms of connectivity, Terminal 1 is well-connected to Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line and is served by regular bus services operated by the Delhi Transport Corporation. A shuttle service links terminals 1, 2, and 3, facilitating easy transit between them.
