Delhi Metro, Australian University Join Hands To Advance Research In Rolling Stock Automation And Track Maintenance

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Monash University, Melbourne, through its Institute of Railway Technology (IRT).
The agreement was formally signed at Metro Bhawan in the presence of senior representatives from both institutions.
This collaboration will focus on joint research initiatives in areas such as advanced automation of rolling stock, predictive maintenance of track infrastructure, and system optimisation.
DMRC in a statement highlighted that the partnership will focus on collaboration and joint metro rail research activities in the areas of advanced automation of rolling stock & track maintenance etc.
The MoU also opens the door for academic and professional exchange programmes between Monash University and the DMRC Academy, which will serve as the nodal knowledge and training partner.
These exchanges aim to promote skill development and knowledge sharing, further enhancing the competency of metro engineers.
“Other avenues shall also be explored pertaining to technical and research cooperation and for the competency building of metro engineers,” the statement added.
Describing the MoU as a “significant step forward,” DMRC acknowledged the global stature of IRT and its reputation for railway technology research and innovation.
The collaboration is expected to unlock new pathways for technology transfer, improve operational safety, and elevate passenger experience.
