Delhi Police has identified more than 25 illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and initiated their deportation, according to Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Madhup Tiwari.

The operation, conducted under the direction of Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, also uncovered a racket involved in issuing fake Aadhar cards.

"Following the LG's direction, we have launched a campaign in which we have started identifying illegal immigrants and deporting them. In Zone 2 Southern zone, we have identified more than 25 such illegal immigrants so far and have also started the work of deporting them," Tiwari told ANI.

The police discovered that many of these immigrants infiltrated India through the porous Meghalaya border and traveled to Delhi via the Rajdhani Express.

The racket provided them with fake Aadhar cards and other identification documents.

"In the racket that we had caught, these people used to come from Bangladesh, enter Meghalaya...and then they were given a fake Aadhar card, whose data when we checked, the entire Aadhar card was fake," Tiwari explained.

The operation utilised human intelligence and technical surveillance to ensure the identification and deportation of illegal immigrants while safeguarding the rights of legitimate Indian citizens. "We ensure that we are deporting the right person and also have to ensure that none of our Indian citizens gets trapped in this," Tiwari said.

"This drive will not stop, I assure you that," he said.

In a related development, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Ravi Kumar Singh reported the detention of 12 Bangladeshi nationals from areas such as Nizamuddin, Kalindi Kunj, Shaheen Bagh, and Sarita Vihar.

"All the Bangladeshis that we have met were without identities and some people had been living for a long time. We are investigating further," Singh said.

Additionally, Delhi Police arrested six individuals, including a cyber café owner and two middlemen, in connection with complaints about fake identification cards.

Two FIRs were filed based on complaints from the Electoral Registration Officer.
