Delhi Unveils Ambitious Air Pollution Mitigation Plan 2025: Only BS6, CNG Or EV Commercial Vehicles Can Enter National Capital From 1 November

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta recently introduced the Air Pollution Mitigation Plan 2025, a comprehensive strategy aimed at curbing emissions from transport, dust, and waste, while laying the groundwork for a cleaner, greener national capital.
A key provision in the plan is the upcoming ban on all commercial vehicles not compliant with BS-VI norms, effective 1 November 2025, India Today reported.
Only CNG, electric or BS-VI-compliant vehicles will be granted entry into the capital thereafter, in a move expected to significantly reduce vehicular emissions.
To accelerate the electric transition, the government will deploy 2,299 electric autos across major Delhi Metro stations and install 18,000 EV charging stations in shopping centres, transit corridors, and commercial spaces.
A comprehensive audit of current EV infrastructure is also planned, with a revised EV policy guiding the shift.
At Delhi’s borders, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras will screen incoming vehicles, identifying End-of-Life (EoL) cars and triggering real-time alerts and digital warnings. These cameras will also be installed at fuel stations to reinforce enforcement.
An intelligent traffic system is also in the works, targeting traffic congestion, a major pollution contributor.
PUC centres will face mandatory audits every six months to ensure operational integrity.
Addressing speculation, CM Gupta ruled out any return of the Odd-Even scheme, noting, “We need solutions that are scalable and sustainable, not temporary fixes.”
