Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday (5 October) said that devotees visiting the Lord Venkateswara temple on Tirumala hills are complimenting that the quality of laddu prasadam (consecrated sweet) has improved and it should continue that way

During a review meeting with senior officials from the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which oversees the Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple, Naidu instructed that only the best quality ingredients be used in the preparation of prasadams (sacred offerings), according to an official statement from temple authorities, news agency PTI reported.

Naidu's remarks came amid recent allegations that adulterated ghee was used in making Laddu Prasadam during the previous YSR Congress government, a charge that has been denied by former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Naidu further said that VIP culture should be reduced in Tirumala and there should be no hustle and bustle when celebrities visit the temple.

He emphasised that temple decorations should be simple and spiritual, avoiding any hype or unnecessary spending.

The Chief Minister recommended to Endowments Minister Anam Rannarayana Reddy that all temples, not just the TTD, should take the opinion of devotees in all respects.

The Chief Minister instructed officials to expand the forest area in Tirumala from 72 to 80 percent.

Later, Naidu inaugurated the Vakulaamatha centralised kitchen established by the TTD on Tirumala hills.

Naidu stayed in Tirupati on Friday night and offered Pattu Vastralu (silk robes) on behalf of the state government to Lord Venkateswara on the first day of the nine-day annual Brahmotsavams.

The Chief Minister also unveiled the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams calendar and diary for the year 2025.
