Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated World Food India 2025 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Thursday (25 September), with Union Ministers Chirag Paswan and Ravneet Singh Bittu present.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said investors in the food sector view India with great optimism due to its triple strength of diversity, demand, and scale, reported The Indian Express.

“Every grain, every fruit, and every vegetable is produced in India. This diversity makes India unique in the world. Our food and its taste change every hundred kilometres. There is a tremendous demand for a variety of food in India. This demand gives India a competitive edge and also makes India a preferred destination for investors,” he stated.

The PM added that over the past decade, 25 crore people have risen out of poverty to join the neo middle class — India’s most energetic and aspirational segment.

He said, “India is operating at an unprecedented and extraordinary scale.”

PM Modi also highlighted that India has become the world’s third-largest start-up ecosystem, with many enterprises working in food and agriculture, making the country highly attractive for investment.

On GST reforms, PM Modi said, “India is advancing on a new path of innovation and reforms, with widespread discussion around the Next Generation GST reforms.”

At the event, Modi met Russia’s Deputy PM Dmitry Patrushev to discuss cooperation in agriculture, fertilisers, and food processing.

Union Minister Paswan noted the exhibition’s growth from 49,000 sq m to 1.10 lakh sq m, with participation from over 90 countries.
