DMRC Cracks Down On Metro Wall Defacement; 327 Sites Cleaned, FIRs Filed Against 53 Violators

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched a special campaign to curb defacement of metro walls and structures with posters, banners, and graffiti.

As part of the drive, posters and banners have already been removed from 327 metro locations across the network.

According to a report by Indian Express, following directions from Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who has taken a strong stance against the defacement of public property, DMRC has filed FIRs against 53 individuals and agencies under the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 2007, as part of the enforcement measures.

In a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, Gupta said, “The Delhi Metro is the pride of our Capital. It is everyone’s responsibility to keep it clean and beautiful.”

To ensure sustained action, a special monitoring team has been formed to watch over metro structures.

Gupta emphasised that every government department and officer would now be answerable for maintaining cleanliness in public transport areas.

Appealing to the public for support, Gupta said, 'Delhi belongs to all of us. Keeping it clean and beautiful is our shared responsibility.'
