West Bengal Forest Minister Jyotipriya Mallick.
Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials initiated a morning search operation today (26 October) at the residence of Jyotipriya Mallick, a West Bengal minister, as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged multi-crore ration distribution scam.
The ED team, assisted by central forces, conducted searches at two flats owned by Mallick, who currently serves as the state's Forest Minister, located in Kolkata's Salt Lake area.
The search operations extended to an additional eight flats, including the former residence of Mallick's personal assistant during his tenure as the Food Minister.
The ED officer overseeing the operation informed, reports PTI, that eight officers were involved, and searches were being conducted at various locations, including the former personal assistant's residence in Dum Dum.
Notably, the central investigative agency had previously arrested an individual with close ties to the ruling Trinamool Congress and Jyotipriya Mallick.
