In a renewed exchange of political jabs, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) lawmaker K Kavitha targeted Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Christmas morning, rekindling taunts from the recent Telangana election where the Congress emerged victorious against the BRS.

Kavitha labeled Rahul Gandhi as "Election Gandhi" and demanded clarity on the Congress' stand regarding controversial remarks made by members of the opposition bloc INDIA.

Mocking the Congress leader, Kavitha remarked, "We are witnessing unfortunate statements today from many political leaders. This process to gain votes from a few sections will ultimately divide the country in ways we cannot imagine."

She specifically referred to the 'Sanatana Dharma' row involving Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and a 2019 incident where DMK leader Dayanidhi Maran seemed to speak disparagingly about laborers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar coming south for jobs.

She stated, "If Rahul Gandhi, who talks about 'Bharat Jodo'... took these seriously from the beginning when 'Sanatana Dharma' was insulted, maybe the other statements would not have been made."

She dubbed him 'Election Gandhi,' highlighting his perceived lack of activity except during election seasons.

These comments come in the aftermath of the BRS' defeat in Telangana, where high-voltage campaigns saw bitter exchanges between the Congress, BRS, and BJP.

Kavitha's remarks are seen by some as a strategic move, possibly signaling an outreach to the BJP ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
