Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday reviewed India’s security situation and the operational readiness of the Armed Forces at the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC), held in Kolkata, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
The Prime Minister was briefed on the impact of Operation Sindoor, recent reforms, and the future of warfare in an era shaped by emerging technologies and new tactics.
He lauded the Forces for the success of the operation, their role in nation-building, anti-piracy missions, evacuating citizens from conflict zones, and delivering humanitarian aid abroad.
Calling 2025 the “Year of Reforms,” Modi urged the Defence Ministry to fast-track measures to enhance Jointness, Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) and Innovation, stressing that these were essential to meet future challenges and ensure victory in any contingency.
The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Anil Chauhan, the three service chiefs, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, DRDO Chairman Dr. Samir V. Kamat, and other senior officials.
Held biennially, the CCC serves as the apex forum for strategic discussions between civilian and military leadership.
The 2025 theme, “Year of Reforms – Transformation for the Future,” aligns with the ongoing push for modernisation and institutional restructuring.
The agenda includes structural, administrative and operational reviews, as well as inputs from officers across ranks to shape a roadmap for strengthening an agile, integrated and technologically advanced force in an increasingly complex geo-strategic landscape.
