A group of men dressed in the distinctive blue attire of Nihang Sikhs allegedly attacked and killed a man named Sammi Puri in broad daylight over a financial dispute in Patti town in Punjab's Tarn Taran district.

The incident occurred on Tuesday (30 July) in which two other men, Karan Puri and Rajan Puri, were also injured, as per a report by The Indian Express.

According to the police, the confrontation took place in Ward No. 6 of Patti around noon.

Family members reportedly alleged that individuals dressed as Nihangs began arguing with Sammi Puri about a financial matter at around noon.

The argument escalated into a violent attack, resulting in the three men being injured.

Family members of the victims alleged that seven men were involved in the attack and have called for strict police action against them.

Jaspal Singh, an officer from Patti City Police Station, stated that the attackers had a financial dispute with Sammi Puri over Rs 1.75 lakh.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashwini Kapoor visited the spot but left when relatives and local residents began protesting against the administration and government.

Earlier this month, a group of Nihang Sikhs was also involved in another violent incident where they attacked Shiv Sena (Punjab) leader Sandeep Thapar with swords in Ludhiana, leaving him critically injured.
