'Forceful Penetration, Manual Strangulation': Here's What Kolkata Trainee Doctor's Detailed Post-Mortem Report Says

A detailed post-mortem report of the 31-year-old trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has come to light that shows the victim's struggle before she was murdered.

Over 14 injuries on the victim's head, face, neck, arms, and genitals have been documented and all injuries have been said to be inflicted before her death, India Today reported.

The cause of death was identified as "manual strangulation combined with smothering." It was classified as a homicide. The report suggested possible sexual assault, citing evidence of forceful penetration.

A "white, thick, viscous liquid" was discovered in the victim's genital area, confirming rape. Additionally, the report noted hemorrhaging in the lungs and blood clots throughout the body.

The second-year postgraduate trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of the hospital on 9 August. An accused named Sanjay Roy has been arrested while the parents suspect a gang rape.

"I am sure more people in the hospital are involved," the victim's mother said. Similarly, her father stated that such brutality could not have been carried out by a single person.

The Calcutta High Court transferred the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after identifying shortcomings in the police investigation. The Supreme Court is also scheduled to hear the case tomorrow.
