Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri To Brief External Affairs Parliamentary Panel On India-Pakistan Situation On 19 May

In light of recent escalations along the Line of Control (LoC), Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will appear before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs on 19 May, India Today reported.

The committee, chaired by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, is expected to receive a detailed briefing on the current state of India-Pakistan tensions.

Misri has previously updated the panel on India's relations with neighbouring countries, including Bangladesh, and diplomatic issues with Western nations such as Canada

Although both countries have agreed to a ceasefire, the situation remains tense. Misri, a seasoned diplomat and former ambassador to China, is expected to provide an in-depth update on the evolving scenario, including broader implications for regional stability.

Pakistan has officially confirmed the deaths of 11 of its military personnel and 40 civilians in recent Indian airstrikes, marking the first time the country has acknowledged fatalities within the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan’s military said the casualties include six army soldiers and five PAF personnel, with an additional 78 troops reported injured.
