His son, CM Hemant Soren, confirmed the news on X, saying, “Respected Dishom Guruji has left us all... I have become ‘shunya’ (zero) today.”

The senior leader had been under treatment at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi for more than a month, battling kidney-related ailments.

He had been a frequent patient at the hospital for ongoing medical care, with Hemant Soren noting during his father’s admission on 24 June, “He was admitted here recently, so we came to see him. His health issues are currently being examined.”

Popularly known as Dishom Guru, Shibu Soren was a towering figure in Jharkhand’s political landscape.

His leadership earned him widespread respect, both as a politician and as a grassroots campaigner for marginalised communities.
