An FIR has been filed against former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior BJP leader BS Yediyurappa for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl, under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act and section 354(A) of the IPC.

The complaint, lodged by the mother of a 17-year-old girl, alleges that the incident took place on 2 February when they visited Yediyurappa seeking assistance in a cheating case.

However, Yediyurappa's office has released a list of cases previously filed by the complainant, suggesting a pattern of registering cases.

Meanwhile, Karnataka's Home Minister G Parmeshwar stated that the police are investigating the matter, and the truth will be revealed upon completion of the probe.

In his initial response to the allegations, former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa asserted that he attempted to assist a distressed woman who visited his residence.

"A few days ago, a woman came to my house. She was crying, indicating some problem. I inquired about the matter and promptly contacted the police commissioner for assistance," he stated.

"Subsequently, the woman changed her stance and began making accusations against me. I have brought this matter to the attention of the police commissioner. Yesterday, a complaint was lodged against me by the police. Let's wait and see what unfolds next; I cannot speculate on any potential political motives behind this," he added.
